The Ministry of Storm-Harvest
Mike Woelk
October 2000
We have been well pleased to host a team
from Storm Harvest each year since 1999. The team are from Australia
(Cootamundra and Coff's Harbor, to be exact.) This team spoke
and modelled substantially to every church represented (about
15 to 20 in the various gatherings while they were here). Here
is my summary:
1. They modelled something I am sure is
a part of the coming restructuring of the Body of Christ (Once
the Lord told me, when I was complaining about some particular
church governmental form, "You know, I work through all
kinds of governments." This one is growing in frequency.
You will see many more like it). That model is one of small teams
of co-accountable believers to operate in the Lord's service.
I had already begun to call them CADRES, a military term. None
of the three men in this group are pre-eminent, but from task
to task various ones will exercise pre-eminence. For example,
Robert Holmes exercises authority in Storm-Harvest's ministry
to the United States. In their personal relationships, which
is the very foundation of all that they do together, there is
nothing hidden. They are completely accountable one to another
concerning their work, their personal emotional lives, their
weaknesses, their doctrine, their public work, finances, etc.
No topic is out of bounds to the other two, and each is responsible
to be accountable, but to also hold the others accountable.
2. They spoke extensively about integrity
in ministry operations, teaching particularly about "CHRISTIAN
WITCHCRAFT", the practice, especially in prophecy, counselling,
words of wisdom and knowledge, etc., of speaking out of the flesh
or by some other spirit. Ministers often do this when there are
a lot of people wanting "a word," for example. They
addressed "pulling on the anointing," the practice
of going ahead and exercising a gift by faith even when one has
not heard distinctly from the Lord, going on the idea that since
the person is anointed, the particular gifting will manifest.
The emphasis was on restoring the Davidic ministry: strong character
as well as walking in the anointing which God has for us.
3. They also addressed carefully the "AHAB
PROBLEM." People are used to looking at the issue of over-control
in the church as a spirit of Jezebel. But there must always be
an Ahab not exercising authority. This always creates a leadership
vacuum which the enemy will rush to fill by using someone who
is fearful, anxious, possessive, greedy, proud, etc. The spiritual
basis for this usurpation is actually demonic. They spoke especially
strongly to the need for men in the Body to step up to the plate,
including prayer, but also concerning pastors and leaders to
have the sacrificial courage to lead with boldness and fearlessness.
4. Practically, the group did minister
personally to a few people each service. I heard them speak very
accurate revelatory words to people usually prefaced by specific
words of knowledge which they could never have known (for example,
number of children).
Though I purposely did not advertise this,
these men have indeed prophesied some very accurate specific
events, including the Columbine shootings (identifying Jefferson
County as the location in 1998.) Our purpose was to minister
to the Lord's ministering leaders. I did not want to attract
spectators. I asked them to characterize their ministry to the
United States, which is in its second year after extensive time
praying for our nation. They told me that they saw themselves
warning of the Lord's sword for (and against) our culture. If
you wish to read their material more extensively, go to www.storm-harvest.asn.au.
They are at this time (perhaps in part
because our hearts are so matched) among the clearest and cleanest
ministries I have ever encountered. I would welcome any questions
or comments about this ministry. They are planning a return visit
to Cape Girardeau next year.
